Showing Lots of Character

Beaumont ISD campuses celebrated Red Ribbon Week 2024 with the national theme, “Life is a Movie, Film Drug-Free.” Students participated in a variety of activities aimed at promoting drug awareness and encouraging healthy choices.

“Red Ribbon Week is an important time for our students to reflect on the choices they make and their impact on their futures,” said Mellow Tatmon, Principal at Homer Drive Elementary School. “By engaging in fun activities and discussions, we hope to instill a sense of responsibility and pride in our students as they choose to live drug-free lives.”

Many campuses hosted “Character Day” parades, in which students dressed as their favorite book characters. That event also served as an opportunity to incorporate literacy into Red Ribbon Week.

In addition to the parades, several campuses organized pep rallies and class meetings to educate students about the dangers of substance abuse. These gatherings featured guest speakers and interactive discussions to empower students to make informed choices. Schools also created bulletin boards filled with student artwork and pledges to remain drug-free. The week-long celebration also encouraged parent and community involvement.
