Welcome from the Principal

Greetings Sallie Curtis Family,

I am pleased to welcome you back to another fabulous year at Sallie Curtis Elementary. I am so excited to begin my second year as the Principal of this wonderful campus. Last year, we ran with our goal of expanding our STEAM initiatives. Students were involved in many hands-on learning situations that allowed them to solve problems creatively. We added some new staff members mid-year to address a large growth in our student population, ending the year with 603 students. We also added a Chess Club and Soccer team to our list of extracurricular activities for our students, both of which were very successful! Just as we headed into the time for STAAR testing, the flu and strep hit us hard, but our students and teachers persevered and did their very best on the state testing. I know that 2019-2020 will bring new challenges and accomplishments for our Colts.

When I send out communication to parents, I normally refer to our Curtis family. Families stick together and work for the best interests of the whole. Families serve a vital role in the education of a child. We must all be partners in the education of our children. Our faculty and staff cannot succeed without the continued support of EVERY family and community member. In return, our staff will give 100% every day to use their expertise to provide the best educational setting for your child. Our goal is to develop the critical knowledge and skills necessary for each child to be a success in a global society.

We can achieve great things when we unite as one community, dedicated to the success of our students. We will strive for excellence in every aspect of our educational journey. We must remain committed to supporting each child's academic, social, and emotional growth.

Please enroll in Parent Self Serve as soon as possible so that you can monitor your child’s progress. Also, please join our wonderful PTA. They are a great support to all of the children and teachers here at Curtis.
