General Questions

New Employee Orientation is offered frequently throughout the year and new employees will receive information in their welcome letter.

Once you have cleared your background check, you will be contacted by the Human Resources Specialist assigned to your campus to complete your onboarding packet. You will receive your Employee Name Badge at that time.

If you have lost or misplaced your name badge you will be required to pay $7.00 (cash only) for a new badge.
If you currently have your badge and it is not working, then bring it to the Office of Human Resources for a replacement badge.
Employee Name Badges are processed, Monday through Friday, 8:00am- 4:30pm.

Benefits

Call the BISD Benefits Department at 409-617-5129 or 5032 and speak to a Benefits Specialist from 8a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Time, weekdays, except holidays. You can also visit our Benefits Page.

If you are a newly eligible employee and you do not enroll, you will not have any district benefits coverage except:
- Employee Assistance Program
- 10k Basic Life and AD&D Insurance

You will be sent information for benefits in your TalentEd onboarding packet online. Upon doing so, benefits coverage begins on your benefits effective date, which is the first of the month following 30 days after your hire date.

You have 30 days after your hire date to enroll in the BISD benefits program. If you miss the enrollment deadline, you will not have coverage for the remainder of the calendar year. Visit our Benefits Page for more information and who to contact!

Payroll/Compensation Information

You may contact the Payroll Department by visiting the Payroll Contact Page. Choose the staff member by your last name or department you work in for assistance.

For teaching experience, original service record(s) from previous school district(s) must be presented to the Human Resources Specialist for review and consideration.

An employee’s first paycheck is paid based upon the pay period during which the employee officially reports to work. Reference the Payroll Calendar on our website.

The date an employee receives his/her first paycheck will depend on the date on which the employee was hired. Employees are paid on the 10th and 25th of each month.
Employee paycheck information is available online by logging on to Employee Service Center. Go to My Payroll Information.

Paid Leave Days
-
This depends on your assigned work day calendar. Please visit the Employee Workday Calendar for your state/local leave eligibility.
State & Local Leave
10 month employees (5 state days, 5 local days)
11 month employees (5, state days, 6 local days)
12 month employees (5 state days, 7 local days, 12 vacation days) -
State days are leave days (paid time off) allotted by the state to all eligible public education employees in Texas. Local days are leave days (paid time off) allotted by the Beaumont Independent School District or the public local (Texas) district for which you work.

You are eligible to use the state/local leave within District guidelines (see Boary Policy Manual DEC(LOCAL). To view your leave balances, please log in to your, Employee Self Service and click on "My Leave Balances" (located on the right side menu).

Only state leave from another Texas school district may transfer over; the accrued state leave does not automatically transfer to BISD. You must request a service record from your previous school district. If a transferable state leave balance is shown on the service record, when verified, the state leave balance will be added to your BISD leave bank.

Unused accrued Local/Personal(State) leave carries over, with no cap on hours. All unused vacation time is surrendered.

Technology

Your username will be created once you have completed the hiring process. To find your username, please go to any BISD computer, go to the About Me web page:
- Fill in the form with the EXACT information that was given to Human Resources: Last Name, Last 4 of SSN, and Date of Birth.
- This page provides the employee with his/her "User Account ID" or username used to sign in a computer and Employee Self Service.

Once you have your username, then you can sign on to any BISD desktop computer.
The first time long in will prompt you to create a password. The password must match these requirements:
- Be at least eight (8) characters long
- Contain at least one (1) "capital" letter
- Contain at least one (1) number
Once your password is set, then it will be used for BISD computers , Google email and Employee Self Service.

BISD utilizes Google Mail (GMAIL) as our email system. To sign on to email:
- Open a web browser.
- Go to GMAIL
- Enter the email address, which will be the employee's username, followed by "@bmtisd.com".
- Username: jdoe
- Email: jdoe@bmtisd.com
- Click the "Next" button.
- Enter the same password you previously created. (See "How do I log on for the first time?)
- Click "Sign In".
