    College Application Deadlines

    Early Decision

Early decision plans are binding — a student who is accepted as an ED applicant must attend that college.  Deadlines usually around November 1-15.

    Early Action

Early action plans are nonbinding — students receive an early response to their application but do not have to commit to the college until the normal reply date of May 1

    Single Choice Early Action

Some colleges offer a nonbinding option under which applicants may not apply ED or EA to any other college.

    Regular Deadline

Regular decision deadlines are typically around the beginning of January, depending on the college. Acceptance letters are usually sent sometime in March.  You have until the end of April to accept.

    Rolling Deadline/Admission

Schools with rolling admission deadlines (also non-binding) accept applications until the programs fill up, often as late as April and through the summer.

    • There is a chance of losing your spot if the class fills up, so it’s best not to wait too long. (Many rolling admission schools recommend applying on the same timeline as their Regular Decision counterparts.)
    • Some colleges with rolling deadlines will still have set admission deadlines for particular academic programs (such as engineering, business, physical therapy).

Verify all admission deadlines with the university/college of your choice!
